I'm guessing the reason so few people post on this forum is because either they've graduated or are freshman who have no reason to know that this club even exists. Actually having an eighth period and putting up a video announcement at some point would generate people. Problem solved.

Also, when the APCS people come around later in the year, I recommend we don't shoot them down with such negative criticism like we did last year. Then maybe some of them would stick around... but let's not discuss this now, lets just get the club running.

EDIT: If we do finally move to Monday someone will have to change Teddy's message on the home page, which still lists us on Fridays.

Talking about not shooting down APCS kids games, what if we made a special section of the Games category for APCS games? They would have somewhat less strict requirements, but it would be a good way to entice people in, as well as growing our Games section. I think it might help.

BUMP.

Also, how are the meetings going? You guys really do need to get working on that if you want TJGames to expand. Expansion is necessary for survival, since currently, as people have mentioned, there are only about 7-9 people who regularly visited the site, and they are mostly either juniors or graduates. This means that if you don't get a club up this year, or get it up too late to be effective, you are going to be left with nearly the entire club being freshman or sophomores in two years, without any or not many experienced members.

What is the status on meetings?
Which teachers have said what?
What are our other options?

Torbert: No
Latimer: No

Mrs. Stevens said that the only teachers she knew of that were open and have computers are physics teachers, but I'm not sure that It'll work out in a physics lab.

That's basically what Dan and I found out during our lunch excursion last week.

We haven't asked Rose and Billington yet, because enough people were opposed to asking them that we made them last priorities.

Meeting status: Depends on which sponsor we get.
Teachers: Mostly the physics teachers just do tutoring/makeups.
Other options: Rose/Billington still open. If they don't want to then we should take it to the physics teachers, though they're probably less likely and have fewer computers. Otherwise, no sponsor == no club == bad.

I don't have a problem with Rose/Billington at this point. Rose does Computer Team but I don't know what Billington does. Otherwise they have a lab for APCS people, but usually there aren't more than like 5 people there. Since everything else is taken you guys should start on these. IceFire is right - we really need to get this club going sometime this quarter. At least we should plan another excursion sometime soon.

I think at least as a temporary solution, since you only have like 5 people at TJ who are currently active, you could just arrange to have people in the APCS lab and then the physics lab for two different meetings and see which one you think would be better. After you find out, you could make the club.

Basically, you just need to do something...

I forgot to post it, but I checked APCS labs about a week ago and those are "No because we need them distraction free for APCS students trying to do work"... not a surprise, but another option out.

No one's said anything, so I'll put this idea out there:

  • We all sign up for the same general use lab.
  • We do our stuff there until we find someplace better.
  • First meeting: next Wednesday (the 10th) in room 237 B block.

Since we can't seem to find a regular room and time for the club, we should just plan the meetings themselves for whenever we need to, using the website. Comments are welcome.

I think this is a good idea. The only problem i see is it will be next to impossible to recruit in this type of setup, and that is something we really need to do. I will try to be there.

This is a good temporary solution.  I'll try and be there. (Although friday b would be better, but I believe we decided against that...)

Are we still trying to meet in a lab next week? If we are, can we change the block? Wed. B is sysadmin understudy, which I'd like to be able to go to.

I can't find anything good to do on Monday, and there are four available labs.
MONDAY B-BLOCK STUFF:
-Lab 206
-Lab 222
-Lab 237 again
-Lab 242B
I don't have a problem with any of these, but Superior said Friday B would be better.
FRIDAY B-BLOCK STUFF:
-Lab 242B

These lists do not include any CS labs because jvercillo said they were banned.

Since Monday's got more labs and I'll most likely be at Jazz II on Friday, I vote we choose something on Monday.

I think mondays are better in general, but I've got a counselor meeting this week. I think that we should try to do the same lab/day every week, so we can maybe attract the people who go there just to play games.
